The New Guinea Fruit Company

The New Guinea Fruit Company (NGFC) contacted Boutelje Products in 2018.

At this stage they were producing their own honey and assisting local beekeepers in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea to process their honey.

NGFC needed to improve their efficiency with the help of specialised equipment.

Sally Watson (company director) made a trip to New Zealand to visit Boutelje Products to assess the quality of our equipment and to discuss her requirements with us.

Several pieces of equipment were freighted to NGFC (Goroka) from New Zealand, however the challenges of local conditions were under-estimated (e.g. the state of the roads as can be seen here).

Some of the lighter pieces of equipment were damaged in transit.

This initial set-back emphasised the importance of us gaining an in-depth knowledge of local conditions from customers in foreign countries, so we are better able to anticipate and find solutions before unexpected problems arise.

NGFC make all their products “from 100% locally sourced honey” from surrounding villages.

They have several partnerships with International NGO’s including Oxfam to implement development projects with their local farmers and community groups.

Equipment such as the Boutelje B1000S Filling Machine has helped achieve their goal of effectively supporting their local communities with honey extraction, processing, and filling.

NGFC remain in regular contact with Boutelje Products over their needs.

During Covid we guided NGFC in the set up of their equipment remotely, and we have sent them materials and equipment that they can’t source locally.

We continue to thoroughly enjoy working with this highly ethical company who produce 100% organic honey in a beautiful but challenging part of the world – click here for views over Goroka.
